Life in the slow lane….

I’ve been moving pretty slow since I last updated. I think I have decided that the heat may have something to do with my sluggishness. We Northerners are not built for excessive heat, that is why we only get summer for 6 weeks. Although as I write this a warm breeze is blowing and I am not wearing three layers of cloths, boots, hat or mittens, so not bad.

Today is the big day for Minneapolis/St Paul and the Super Bowl! It has been fun seeing all the activities in the news and on Facebook. I know a lot of my friends are enjoying the festivities and also volunteering. I have to admit, it does look like fun.

I’m slowly figuring out how I might be helpful while I am here. We met with Father Mansuetus and Dr. Norbert Mchomvu on Thursday to go over projects and priorities. I think I will be able to help document updates on current projects and help with reviewing future project proposals. I will be taking a field trip with the Dr. to talk to some of the recipients of the Micro Finance project to document how things are going. My friends at CaringBridge will laugh as I keep calling it the Micro Services project. 🙂 We went over the list of priorities for Paul and I don’t think we will have enough time to complete the list!!

On Saturday we went to the Cathedral in Same for a celebration mass/lunch for the priests and nuns in the surrounding area. It was so fun to meet so many that recognized Paul from all his previous visits and he did a great job remembering their names. They were so excited and happy to see him and to meet me. I think we have several invitations to visit while we are here.

Here is Father and I at the celebration.

I did a walking tour of where we are staying and working. Hope you enjoy the photos.
